Practice Philosophy:
Dr. Ashley Chorath is a board-eligible psychiatrist who treats a variety of conditions including anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. She can treat adults as well as children. She considers a patient’s medical and psychiatric history, personal values, and mental health goals when devising a treatment plan. She believes in a working partnership with the patient to ensure the treatment is effective and well-tolerated by the patient to optimize care. Dr. Chorath has been highly praised for her kind and personable nature, medical knowledge, professionalism, and timeliness to patient needs. Compassionate and warm, she prides herself on delivering patient-centered care. When medication is warranted, she utilizes an evidence-based approach to prescribe the minimum effective dose with the lowest side effect profile to help patients achieve the best quality of life.

Dr. Chorath’s clinical experience includes a comprehensive understanding of how other medical conditions affect one’s mental health from her experience in internal medicine and radiology. She also has extensive knowledge of psychiatric treatments in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She is experienced in caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds, and especially enjoys working with the college student and young adult population, who face a unique set of challenges with life transitions. Dr. Chorath is dedicated to providing exemplary care to all of her patients.


Experience and Training:
Dr. Chorath completed the highly selective 6 Year BS/MD Program at The Pennsylvania State University and The Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She was selected for the prestigious NIH Medical Research Scholars Program, and trained in internal medicine and diagnostic radiology before ultimately following her passion to psychiatry. She completed her psychiatric residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and underwent additional fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.  She holds memberships in the American Psychiatric Association and Washington Psychiatric Society, and regularly keeps up with the latest research in the field.
